: Greetings from Midmar, Aberdeenshire

A quick summary about me & my Weather Station. I have had a station running here in Midmar (which is about 20 miles due West of Aberdeen) since the end of 2005. I used a La Crosse 2300 clone (Hyundai WS05) until this Spring when I changed to a wired Davis VP2 with Solar that a colleague brought over from the US. I was surprised how similar the data was from the two stations and am still running them in parallel. I've got a webcam uploading to Weather Display but haven't got round to adding to my WDL site yet - I will one day soon. Also last year I purchased a Lightning detector from Frank Kooimans in Holland and really need to get on with assembling it.

The weather in Midmar affects daily life here dramatically - especially in Winter, although we don't get the severe winters we used to. I've lived here for 25 years and wish I had installed a weather station earlier! I have some temperature records for earlier years which I'll probably import into WD one day. I use Weather Display & WDL - fantastic programs if rather complex - well done Brian & Julian :-)

The SWN looks like a great idea. I'll soon be asking a few foolish questions on the forum as although a bit of a techie I'm always surpised when I get computers to work - especially with complex things like WD!  ;D

Welcome on to the forum.  ;D

I've always thought about importing a cabled VP2 but other things always come along and use the money, so I'll stick with my WS2300 for now.

Just remember that the only foolish or daft questions are the ones you never ask, so ask away.  ;D

Martin.

Welcome to the Forum.  ;D

I work with computers (software development), and I'm still pleasantly surprised when they actually do when was intended.  ;)

Welcome..I too run both a Davis VP2 (wireless) and a WS23** (as a standby for the VP2).  Enormous difference in UK purchase prices, but as you have found, the WS23** certainly seem to give to give good Wx data.
